Captain, May I?

“Captain, may I?” is a child’s game that many of us “oldies” played when we were children.  Our grandchildren still play it on occasion. Though it was a children’s game, it reinforced the idea that, sometimes, someone else can tell you what to do.  After all, Captains of ships are the final authority in everything that occurs onboard a ship.

The game taught my generation to accept that someone else might be our boss.  And, if they were, we had to obey them!

The President is the Captain of the Ship of State…..that “State” being the United States of America.  Yes, there are three co-equal branches of government with authority for different functions lying with each branch.  The Judiciary adjudicates all legal issues.  The Congress is responsible for creating legislation which the President must either sign or veto and the Judiciary weighs that legislation against the Constitution of the United States.  Each branch has equal authority in its own realm.  However, the President essentially  is the one who runs the country.

The Cabinet, chosen by the President, and confirmed by Congress, does advise the President.  But, they also serve at the “pleasure of the President”  Everyone knows this.  Everyone also knows that, though diverse opinions should be presented to the President, the President is ultimately responsible for every decision.  The President is the person who listens to the diverse opinions and then, weighing the advice, makes a judgment call.  Whether a citizen agrees with the President or not, we all must abide by his decisions because the Constitution gives him this authority.

Lately, though, it seems as if everyone — especially Democrats — believe that everything that President Trump does, says, or decides, is subject to their evaluation.  Even though these objectors do NOT have all the facts, they pursue a course of behaviour destructive to the welfare of our country.  Schumer, Pelosi, and their minions, have publicly disagreed with Mr. Trump’s stance on trade, the border wall, the fate of DACA, taxes, the judicial nominees…………..you name it.  They start out by disagreeing and being disagreeable about it, too.

Now, Mr. Tillerson has been replaced as Secretary of State, a Cabinet position that is critical to our country and to our President in his decision making processes.  Unfortunately, Mr. Tillerson has let his disagreements with President Trump become a public issue.  Somehow, he forgot that in the game of “Captain, may I?”, the Captain is the President.  Even when questioned by the media, and given the chance to affirm his President’s approach to several issues of national concern, Tillerson would tout his own philosophical ideas.  He never seemed to understand that he was no longer CEO of Exxon, but that he was an underling in a Cabinet headed by the President of the United States.

So, it was almost a relief to hear he had been replaced by someone more philosophically alligned with President Trump.  The “boss” (Trump) had finally had enough of an employee (Tillerson) running amuck both here and abroad.

Schumer, of course, was quick to publicly denounce the firing of Tillerson as an attempt to thwart an investigation.  That’s nutty.  For over a year, the FBI and DOJ have continued with this senseless Russia probe trying to link it to Trump.  That can NOT be seen as an agency in cahoots with the President.  Schumer also linked the firing of McCabe as another attempt by the President to stop Mueller’s investigation.  That’s even nuttier, if you consider how the FBI and DOJ have stone-walled and obstructed the public hearing about this investigation.  As proof of the FBI and CIA’s attempts to censor information, look at how long it has taken to have documents open to the public.  And, then, most of those documents are so heavily redacted as to be almost useless.  Look at how Judicial Watch has spent many hours and dollars bringing the illegal activities by the upper echelons of the FBI and CIA into the public purview.  That is NOT the sign of a governmental agency “helping” an Administration!

No, the two firings are not related.

Tillerson’s firing, though, is an example of someone who forgot the rules of “Captain, may I?”.   He forgot that the Captain rules the ship. Tillerson forgot that he was serving at the pleasure of the  President, and NOT at the pleasure of himself.

Maybe this is another good lesson for the next generation.  You must accept that the Boss is the boss, no matter what job you have.  And, if you buck the Boss too much, you will lose your job.

Because…………… whether in Life or in the game of “Captain, may I?”, only the Captain gets to say “you may” or “you may not”.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly — President Obama…..politicizing America

The GOOD: Obamacare Website Closed for Repairs This Weekend.

The BAD:  Obama’s capricious closures which hurt:

Veterans, our pride and joy:

…government’s ham-fisted attempts to close the DC WWII Memorial, an open-air public monument that is normally accessible 24 hours a day. By accessible I mean, you walk up to it. When you have finished reflecting, you then walk away from it.**

Apparently, according to an anonymous Park Service ranger, “We’ve been told to make life as difficult for people as we can. It’s disgusting.”**

Fishermen:  Just before the weekend, the National Park Service informed charter boat captains in Florida that the Florida Bay was “closed” due to the shutdown.  Until government funding is restored, the fishing boats are prohibited from taking anglers into 1,100 square miles of open ocean.  Fishing is also prohibited at Biscayne National Park during the shutdown.**

The UGLY:

Frightening Taxpayers, the markets and the world:  Obama’s reckless default fear-mongering

Never before has an American president threatened and risked the U.S. economy and financial markets the way Barack Obama has in recent days. For his own narrow political ends, Obama and his minions have actually accused the Republican party of deliberately provoking a Treasury debt default because they don’t agree with the Obama position on the continuing budget resolution and the debt ceiling.**

These are only a few of the good, the bad and the ugly……….and, it doesn’t look like it’s getting better with President Obama, Harry Reid and Pelosi now joined by Schumer in a contest to see who can call the Republicans the worst, most egregious, insulting names.

The GOOD,  the BAD, and the UGLY………just another name for the political machinations of President Obama and Democrats.

Who is shutting down the government?

Once again, thanks to the Media’s yen to promote anything Obamaesque, the true facts of whether the government will shut down or not, whose fault it would be, and why it might shut down, are not being relayed to the American public.

So, here are a few facts:

A.     The House bill was adulterated by the Senate and sent back to the House.  The House offered a compromise that:  1–delays the start of Obama-scare for individuals;  2 — fully funds the Military, no matter how negotiations evolve;  does NOT SHUT DOWN THE GOVERNMENT, but offers a continuing resolution.

B.    The Republican-controlled House has repeatedly sought to work with President Obama and the Senate, but Harry Reid has not only refused to consider anything the House passes, but publicly excoriates anything Conservatives believe.  The House has passed numerous bills and, even before the vote is taken, President Obama and Senator Reid expound on how they will NOT accept anything that the House sends over.

C.    The Media is trying to misconstrue the facts so that, if the government shuts down, Republicans will be blamed!  In fact, NOT ONE REPUBLICAN has supported shutting down the government.  The ONLY people talking about shutting down the government are President Obama and the Democrats.  Here are just a few of the comments by President Obama, and Democrats to prove that the potential shut down of government will be the fault of the Democrats because Democrats have refused to work with the House.  (Ironically, Obama will talk with the leader of radial islamist Iran, but NOT the United States House of Representatives!)

D.  Here are paraphrased comments from the Democrats who profess to NOT want a government shut-down;  but, are doing everything in their power to shut down the government so they can blame Republicans:

1 –I will NOT negotiate with Congress (President Obama).

2  — We will NOT accept this bill if the House adds anything! (Schumer)

3 —   The Republicans are using extortion to get their way. (Obama, again.)

So, who is really trying to shut down the government?  Well, if you refuse to negotiate (Obama and Harry Reid), continually call Conservative names (Schumer and Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi), it kind of sounds as though the Democrats are at fault.

Republicans WANT a budget.

Republicans WANT a continuing resolution.

Republicans WANT middle class Americans to have the same benefits as Congress, and the big businesses have been granted through waivers.

Who is shutting down the government?

The Democrats and President Obama.  That’s who!

A New Teapot Dome Scandal?

http://www.nypost.com/p/news/national/he_schu_in_XaoXJibNNI16jjroHK7aUM

President Obama has appointed Senator Schumer’s brother-in-law to a judgeship in New Jersey.  Really?  Is a relative of an influential United States Senator the only choice?  Will the media even take notice and comment on the inappropriateness or even insidiousness of appointing yet another of the inner circle to a position of authority?  No.  CBS, NBC, MSNBC are all trying to stay within Obama’s inner circle, so they’ll say nothing, or laud the choice.  That’s obvious.

It certainly sounds to me as though Obama wants to have his buddies in every level of authority he can.  There was Rahm, a political crony from Shytown.  Geither, another buddy, who couldn’t remember or didn’t know how to file his taxes, was slotted for Treasury.  Holder, another buddy, now runs the Department of Justice.  And, these are just the most prominent friends of Obama appointed to influential positions of government and working very hard for Obama’s agenda, not the benefit of the USA.

Shouldn’t government appointees, especially a judge,  be impartial?  Shouldn’t even the APPEARANCE of any appointment be impartial or does this approach another Teapot Dome Scandal?  It surely sounds like it.  All I know is that I’m warming up the tea kettle, in case we need some hot water to clean the scum created by  Obama and his cronies.

Until the media starts honestly reporting on President Obama’s scandalous behaviour, anyone for tea?
