  • The far left hypocrits — a study in irrationality

Given: The following sound bites are loudly proclaimed and scripted by the far left of the Democratic party:

Democrats claim that General Petraeus’ report was compromised, indeed written, by the White House.
Democrats claim that the suggested troop decrease is not enough.
Democrats claim they know how to solve the world’s problems.

Here, however, are the unalterable truths:

General Petraeus himself said he had written the report. Although General Petraeus has a long and honorable history in the military and was unanimously approved by the very ones who now are calling him a liar, the Democrats refuse to give any credence to his report.

The troop reductions need to be measured so as to protect both the American and coalition forces left behind and to protect the Iraquis who have tried to move toward Democracy.

Although the Democrats talk a good story, they have yet to propose a reasonable and intelligent method of dealing with any situation, be it military or domestic. The Democrats seem to think that all issues should be political volley balls rather than seriously considered in terms of what is best for our country.

Answer: The term liberal used to define someone who dealt with issues from the vantage point of government being needed to help solve people’s problems. Conservatives, of course, believed that the public had the intelligence to work out most of their own problems.

In today’s world, the government, as represented by Democrats (or, as my son coined them, the LIEberals) is doing its utmost to upset another political party no matter the cost to our great nation. No wonder the polls show that Congress has the lowest approval rating of any group. The public knows that the far left are the ultimate hypocrits.

  • More Discrimination?

Whoopi Goldberg was quoted as saying that Michael Vick should not be blamed for killing dogs nor running a dog fighting ring because dog fighting is part of certain cultures. Unfortunately for Whoopi’s argument, it is against the law in America to abuse animals! And, if cultural precedent is the only determining factor in what we can do, here are a few other horrors that could continue under Whoopi’s philosophy.

If her theory holds, then child labor could continue because, in certain cultures, children are routinely sent to work immediately.

Child prostitution would also be acceptable to Whoopi because children have been forced to be sex slaves for years in some countries.

Murdering women would be acceptable because, in some cultures, the wife is considered no more than chattel.

Oh, yeah, and keeping slaves would have been acceptable, too, because — at that time — some cultures thought it was acceptable to kidnap and enslave other human beings!

  • Discrimination

Discrimination has become an ugly word even though originally a discriminating person was considered a step above the rest of us. Gourmets were praised for their ability to discriminate between common food or wine and finer wines. Everyone wanted to have a connosieur’s discriminating abilities. But, now, everytime there is a controversy which involves people of two different ethnic groups, the flag of “discrimination” is raised.

There are situations where ethnicity becomes the overriding factor in deciding the outcome. The news about the black children accused of beating up and maybe attempting to murder a white child who was calling them names is sad, no matter who was right and who was wrong. It appears that the black children were unfairly charged in this case although no one will know until the facts come out in court.

On the other hand, it is equally sad that many black people immediately assumed discrimination when Michael Vick was charged with animal abuse, and more, despite his admitting to operating a dog fighting arena.

Our country, once a melting pot for all ethnic groups, is now afraid to act in many situations, fearing the label of “DISCRIMINATION”. Airports are leaning toward offering special prayer rooms for Muslims rather than fighting unwarranted lawsuits in court. A previous blogger mentioned the Muslim who, claiming religious beliefs, felt he should be allowed to keep his turban on when every other passenger would have to remove theirs. A woman in Florida insisted she must wear her veil for a driver’s license photograph. Illegal immigrants are claiming the same rights as citizens, even though they have already broken the law; and some states are afraid to insist on enforcing the law for fear of the Discrimination accusation!!

This atmosphere of “anything goes or we claim Discrimination” must change immediately. The solution is to insist upon fairness for everyone. The Pursuit of liberty and justice is our country’s mantra — not the right to override every social and legal statute for one’s personal convenience. Everyone has to start acting in a more mature manner and remember that we are all Americans with the same rights and liberties as anyone else.

America is the Land of the Free, but that does not refer to a free ride or the right to disregard laws. We can only be free so long as everyone abides by the same rules and regulations as all other citizens! We must relearn to DISCRIMINATE between right and wrong, and forgot all the hyped reasons for NOT discriminating.

  • Presidential politics

The Drudge is reporting that Hillary’s records from her years as First Lady will not be released until after her run for the presidency. Why? They are being reviewed by a small staff at the Clinton library and the staff will be unable to process the volume of materials in time for voters to review her previous attempt at running our health care system.

    Isn’t that convenient?

  • Where do YOUR tax dollars go?

Almost everyone believes that their taxes are too high. For some, taxes steal more than half of the income. Consider how many taxes you pay.

Each individual pays: income tax, sales tax, license fees, permit fees, Social Security tax, unemployment taxes, property taxes, pet fees, yada yada.

In addition, what we buy includes the taxes that employers and businesses pay to the government which include, but are not limited to: unemployment taxes, health insurance premiums, Social Security taxes, FISA taxes, and fees for the right to do business, etc. These costs are, obviously, part of the final price you pay for any product or service you buy. But are these taxes really being spent wisely?

Unfortunately, this Democratic Congress has maintained the earmark system which allows them to hide ridiculous expenditures within another legislative bill. These earmarks serve no one but the congressman’s reelection chances. Earmarks include subsidizing peanut farmers in Georgia and teaching native Haiwaiians how to canoe! Every Congress person has a pet project and we are the ones paying for them.

So, where do YOUR tax dollars go? Are you buying a bridge to nowhere in Alaska or are you paying a farmer not to grow a crop? Are you funding a project that will actually help someone or just paying the bills for yet another bureaucratic juggernaut?

Check it out. Your tax dollars should be spent for our common good, not for a Congressman’s welfare.

  • More on "their" money……

Do you have health care? We do.
Who pays for it? We do.

Does your neighbor have health care?
If you do, odds are that your neighbor does, too.

Does everyone have health care? No.
Should everyone have health care? Yes.

Who should pay for health care? The ones who already pay for their own or the ones who are not currently paying for health care?

That is the crux of the issue. Should we, who have put money aside for years and foregone certain luxuries, in order to provide for our families, now have to pay for someone else? It hardly seems fair.

This, however, is what Congress is trying to pass without the American public’s knowledge. And, worse yet, they are trying to make American tax payers foot the bill for illegal immigrants!!!!!

This Congress pledged to be honest and aboveboard in all matters. So far, they have wasted more time on inquiries into red herrings than any previous Congress. They have accomplished so little that their approval ratings are the lowest of the low.

Maybe this Congress should begin to look into ways to save the American tax payer money rather than on how to sneak new costs into the budget. The tax burden is already incredibly high for many of us. It is insulting to now ask us to pay for the health care of people who are not even American citizens.

  • America’s money

Whose dollar bill is that in your wallet? Is it yours? Or, is it your elected representative’s?

If Hillary has her way, it will be hers. She believes that any imbalances of income should be “corrected” by robbing you to pay your neighbor’s bills. Of course, she doesn’t say this very often.

If Congress has its way, each Senator or Representative will decide where that dollar goes, rather than you. And, the theft might happen where you will least expect it — in an earmark program. Earmarks are just Congress’ sneaky method of spending our money in a way where we won’t notice. That is why this procedure is hidden under layers of bureaucracy where you won’t see it often.

The solution to this grand larceny is to have every, single piece of legislation voted on individually, based on the legislation’s merits. Amendments must be germane to the issue of the legislation. For example, if the issue at hand is whether to demand voter identification, only an amendment that deals with the costs of such programs should be included. Neither peanut farmers in Georgia nor aircraft manufacturers in California should be allowed to tack on amendments giving them our money.

The American public is savvy enough to decide where it spends the money it earns. Congress should start acting more like our representatives than a band of thieves!

  • In the face of a liberal…….

Today’s press conference by President Bush once again highlighted David Gregory’s absolute disdain for the Presidency and our President. Although Mr. Gregory might justify his insulting questions as being “hard-hitting”; in fact, the comments he makes are more in the line of a political diatribe than a real question.

So, what does it matter if a liberal journalist routinely insults the President? If you’re a liberal, you see nothing wrong with harassing a President who is known to be honest and hard-working. If you’re a liberal, you want to see President Bush humiliated in order to project your own philosophy rather than realizing that such divisive tactics harm our country and our military. If you’re a liberal, you just want to win, regardless of the cost to the country.

For the rest of the American population, Mr. Gregory’s animus toward President Bush is just another opportunity lost by the media to ask about issues that affect Americans and our well-being. In Mr. Gregory’s “in your face”, take-no-prisoners approach, we see a man bent on forcing his own views down the throat of everyone else, including us and the President of the United States.

Let’s face it. Mr. Gregory’s attitude sounds a lot like some other hoodlums we all know and fear — the radical, Islamic terrorists!

  • The American people

Unlike the days of yore when Carter pushed the giveaway of the Panama Canal down the throats of the unwilling American public, and then donated years of maintenance by America to the canal, the American people spoke up about illegal immigration.

Guess what? We don’t want illegal immigrants to stay. We don’t want illegal immigrants to have a free pass, and free life, just because they have a hard life in their own country.

What do we want? We want our country to enforce our laws on all those who try to come here. There was no free pass to American citizenship for our grandparents and there should not be now. The greatness of America rests on our adherence to laws being applied equally to all.

So, Congress, take heed. You are our representatives, not our bosses. In fact, you are our employees and the bosses, the American people, have told you to tighten the borders, send the illegal immigrants home, and stop acting like mini-dictators!

  • Bush 3 times more popular than Congress

Yes, according to the latest polls, only 14% of people now approve of Congress. 42% approve of President Bush.

Apparently, President Bush is more in tune with the American people than those loud, crass politicians on the Democratic side of the aisle.

Say good night, Nancy and Harry. And, don’t go away mad, just go away.
